It was a clear night, and the stars shown overhead like miniature diamonds while the moon cast its pale celestial glow across Ville de le Lune. The air was tinted with the exotic perfume of the local flora, and the scent of the nearby Mediterranean was carried upon a warm wind like some sort of exotic spice. There was such peace, in nights like this.
And though, peace was little more than a romantic's illusion-something any long surviving member of society would realize, it was why so many centuries ago he'd chosen this quaint little city that was secreted away from the rest of society. France's gem, he called it. Though he'd never say it aloud.
Thane's silent footsteps led him down the cobblestone sidewalk, his long charcoal colored coat rustling against his lean form with every deceivingly languid and nearly feline movement. He was the picture of dark elegance, of innate grace, though there was ever an aura of danger that was as much a part of him as the ever shifting hues of his keen gaze. Not many understood the source of that aura.
In fact, he could have very easily passed for a very wealthy, very beautiful human man to the mortal eye. It was a mistake that amused the considerably old demon, to no end. And he was content to allow others to make it.
Currently glacier blue eyes flicked along his surroundings as he paused in front of the tavern. His keen gaze leaving nothing unturned, before he pressed the door open with an elegant hand and stepped inside the familar dwelling. He was in the mood for a glass of wine, and not in the mood to be stuck within the confines of the school he'd founded so long ago. Thane's feet carried him across the floor to his favorite table, and it was there amid a very comfortable chair that he draped himself across it contently to await a passing waitress to take notice.
There really wasn't any telling whom or what he might run into this evening. Though it couldn't be guaranteed that he'd be the most pleasant of company. He was an acquired taste, for most individuals.
